20-Position IDC Receptacle for Discrete or Ribbon Cable
The 0.100" (2.54mm) pitch and matching 0.100" row spacing place this on the standard grid used by most 0.100" ribbon cable and mating pin headers, making the board layout and cable selection straightforward. The closed-end feature provides a positive stop for the cable during termination, preventing over-insertion and ensuring consistent conductor positioning within each IDC slot.
Wire gauge acceptance is 26-30 AWG for both discrete wires and ribbon cable — the IDC slot geometry is tuned for this range. Using wire outside this gauge risks an unreliable termination: too heavy a gauge may not fit the slot, and too fine a gauge may not be captured by the insulation-displacing tines. The connector is rated for either discrete or ribbon cable, so the same housing works for a point-to-point harness or a ribbon-cable daisy-chain.
