2-Position IDC Plug for Ribbon Cable Harnesses
The TE Connectivity AMPMODU MTE 5-103946-1 is a 2-position IDC plug designed for terminating 22-26 AWG ribbon cable. The closed-end housing prevents the plug from over-traveling into the receptacle, providing a positive mechanical stop during mating. The black color is standard for the AMPMODU MTE IDC plug line, and the connector ships in tube packaging for automated assembly lines.
IDC Termination — One-Press Ribbon Cable Assembly
Termination is via insulation displacement (IDC): the ribbon cable is aligned over the slot array and pressed down with a hand tool or press. The contact beams slice through the insulation and grip the conductor, forming a gas-tight joint without stripping or crimping individual wires. The 22-26 AWG range covers the most common ribbon cable gauges used in internal signal harnesses. The plug mates with the matching AMPMODU MTE receptacle housing (female socket contacts) to complete the wire-to-board or wire-to-wire connection. The free-hanging (in-line) mounting allows the plug to be used as a cable-end connector without a panel cutout.
