The TE Connectivity AMPMODU MTE 5-103960-5 is a 6-position single-row receptacle that terminates discrete or ribbon cable via IDC (insulation displacement). The 26-30 AWG wire range covers ribbon cable common in 0.100" pitch IDC assemblies.
Termination and Assembly — IDC Reality Check
IDC termination means the wire insulation is pierced by the contact tines as the cover is pressed down — no stripping, no crimping, no loose terminals to load into a housing. That makes this fast for multi-conductor ribbon cable runs, but the trade-off is that the wire gauge and type must match the contact slot geometry exactly. TE specifies 26-30 AWG for discrete or ribbon cable; using wire outside that range risks an incomplete insulation cut or a loose conductor grip. The closed-end feature means the housing is blocked at one end, so the IDC cover only goes on one way — no risk of installing it backwards. For a short jumper between boards inside an enclosure, the latch alone is sufficient.
Sourcing and Lifecycle — What to Expect
No official second-source or cross-reference on record; the AMPMODU MTE series is TE-proprietary in its keying and latch geometry.
