Shielded D-Sub Backshell for 15-Position Shells
The TE Connectivity 5-1478763-2 is a two-piece shielded backshell from the ADK series, designed for D-sub connectors with a 15-position shell size. It accommodates both standard 15-position and high-density 26-position D-subs that share the same shell size A footprint. The 45° cable exit routes the round cable away from the panel face, which helps when the enclosure depth is tight or the cable bundle needs to turn immediately after the connector. The shell is die-cast zinc with a nickel plating, giving it good corrosion resistance and a consistent ground path for the shield braid. The two-piece clamshell design clamps around the cable, and the included grommets and strain relief grip the jacket so pull on the cable doesn't transfer to the solder buckets or IDC contacts inside the D-sub.
Hardware and Assembly
Mating screws 4-40 are integrated into the backshell — no need to order jackscrews separately. The screws engage the threaded inserts on the mating D-sub connector and lock the backshell to the connector body. Assembly hardware, grommets, and strain relief are all included in the box, so the kit is complete for one cable termination.
