Shielded RJ45 Jack for 10/100 Base-T, with Board Lock and EMI Fingers
The TE Connectivity 5-2301994-8 is a single-port, right-angle RJ45 jack designed for 10/100 Base-T and AutoMDIX applications. It carries four cores per jack. The LED indicators — green, yellow-green, and yellow — give link/activity status.
The board lock anchors the connector during soldering. The EMI fingers are brass, same as the shell, and they contact the panel cutout or the mating plug's shield to create a continuous ground path. In a noisy environment — say, next to a VFD or a switching PSU — that shield continuity keeps the 10/100 Base-T signal from picking up common-mode noise that would drop the link.
