What This 25-Circuit Barrier Block Does in a Panel
The TE Connectivity 5-796985-1 is a 25-circuit barrier strip from the JC6 Buchanan series — a through-hole board-mount block that terminates 12-22 AWG wire against a PC pin on the bottom. The 0.375" (9.53 mm) pitch spaces the circuits wide enough for screwdriver access and creepage at 300 V, while the dual-wall barrier (2 Wall) between each pair of terminals prevents a jumper wire from shorting adjacent circuits.
Termination and Wire Fit — Screws with Captive Plate, PC Pin
That matters when you are landing a 12 AWG stranded conductor in a crowded panel: no loose hardware to fish out. The steel screw has a zinc clear chromate finish, corrosion-resistant enough for the inside of a NEMA-rated enclosure. Wire range 12-22 AWG covers most panel power and control wiring; the 20 A rating is achievable with 12 AWG at the full 105°C operating temperature.
Mounting and Mechanical — Through-Hole, Single Row, UL94 V-0
The block mounts through-hole into the PCB — the PC pins on the bottom row align with plated through-holes on a 0.375" pitch grid. Operating temperature range goes to 105°C, which covers the ambient inside a sealed cabinet with transformer heat rise.
