Pin diameter range and contact fit
The 5050864-8: This socket accepts pin diameters from 0.026" to 0.033" (0.66 mm to 0.84 mm) — a 0.007" window that covers standard 0.030" round pins used in many header and terminal applications. The beryllium copper contact beam provides consistent normal force across that range, so a 0.030" pin seats with the same retention as a 0.026" pin.
Temperature range and material choice
Rated from -65°C to 126°C, this socket covers the full military and industrial thermal envelope. The beryllium copper contact retains its spring properties at both extremes — no relaxation at high temperature, no embrittlement at low temperature. The tin plating is stable across the range; no whisker risk below 100°C.
The open-bottom design allows solder flux and cleaning solvents to drain during wave-solder assembly. The no-tail configuration means the socket sits flush with the board surface — no protruding solder tail to interfere with bottom-side components. The mounting hole diameter is specified at 0.062" ~ 0.063" (1.57 mm ~ 1.60 mm); the socket flange diameter is 0.080" (2.03 mm), so the flange seats against the board surface without overhang. Solder termination is the intended attachment method.
