What this socket accepts and why it matters
The 50863 is a PCB pin socket from TE Connectivity AMP Connectors, Series 2. It accepts pin diameters from 0.014" to 0.026" (0.36mm to 0.66mm), which covers a wide range of component leads and header pins — from thin IC legs to thicker test points.
Termination is solder, with a no-tail design — the socket sits flush on the board. The open-bottom feature allows solder paste or flux to escape during wave or hand soldering, which reduces voiding and improves joint reliability. Socket depth is 0.247" (6.27mm), overall length 0.260" (6.60mm). The mounting hole diameter is 0.052" (1.32mm) — match your PCB drill size to that for a press-fit before soldering.
