Board-to-Board Mezzanine Fit and Stack Height
The TE Connectivity 5146894-1 is a 64-position receptacle from the Free Height (FH) series, designed to the IEEE 1386 / PMC mezzanine standard. The connector supports two mated stacking heights — 11mm and 12mm — which is the primary selection variable when pairing boards in a mezzanine stack. The outer shroud contacts wrap around the mating plug's center strip, providing the ground plane continuity that the IEEE 1386 form factor expects.
Stack Height Tolerance and Board Alignment
The 11mm and 12mm mated heights are fixed by the receptacle body height above board (0.287" / 7.30mm) and the mating plug's own standoff. The board guide feature on this receptacle provides mechanical alignment during assembly, taking shear loads off the signal pins when the two PCBs are brought together. For a 64-position mezzanine at 1.00mm pitch, the cumulative board-to-board tolerance stack needs to stay within the float the guide and contact wipe can absorb — the guide helps, but the board designer should still budget for the full tolerance chain between the two card locations.
