The TE Connectivity 5146897-1 is a 64-position plug from the Free Height (FH) series, designed to the IEEE 1386 / PMC standard for mezzanine card-to-baseboard interconnects. A molded board guide on the plug body aligns the module during insertion, taking shear loads off the signal contacts.
SMT Assembly and Board Guide
The plug is surface-mount terminated, supplied on Tape & Reel for automated pick-and-place. The molded board guide is not just an alignment feature — it prevents the mezzanine card from skewing during reflow, which can open solder joints on the outer rows if the part shifts. The 1.00mm pitch leaves 0.5mm of routing channel between pads on a standard PCB, so escape routing on inner layers is straightforward with a via-in-pad or microvia strategy.
