The board guide feature provides mechanical alignment during assembly, taking shear forces off the SMT solder joints. On a 160-position connector, that alignment matters: a misaligned mate can bend contacts or crack solder fillets. The 0.148" (3.75mm) height above board keeps the profile low enough for tight enclosures while allowing the stacking height range via the mating plug height selection.
