Wire splice identity and ratings
The 51892 is the 8 AWG member of TE Connectivity's Solistrand inline splice line, accepting two wires in parallel openings for a butt-style crimp connection. The splice is non-insulated with a brazed seam barrel, rated for crimp termination only, and ships in bulk packaging.
Barrel construction and wire fit
The brazed seam barrel provides a closed crimp profile — the seam is fused before plating, so the crimp die closes on a continuous wall rather than a split seam, which improves pull-out force consistency on 8 AWG stranded or solid conductor. Non-insulated design means the crimp barrel contacts the conductor directly; no insulation support barrel is present, so the wire jacket must be stripped to the correct length before insertion.
