Hinged Backshell for AMPLIMITE HD-20 D-Subs
The TE Connectivity 5206393-1 is a hinged backshell from the AMPLIMITE HD-20 series, designed to terminate and protect the cable end of a 15-position D-sub connector. It accepts round cable and provides two cable exit options: 45° and 180°, giving the harness builder flexibility to route the cable in tight enclosures. The black thermoplastic shell includes assembly hardware and an integrated strain relief, which secures the cable jacket and prevents pull-out forces from reaching the solder or crimp terminations.
Cable Exit and Strain Relief
The backshell supports both 45° and 180° cable exit angles, letting the cable leave the connector at an angle for low-profile routing or straight back for panel feed-through. The included strain relief hardware clamps onto the round cable jacket, reducing flex fatigue at the connector interface — a common failure point in field-service cable assemblies.
Position and Shell Compatibility
Rated for 15 positions, this backshell fits the standard D-sub shell size A (the same shell used for 15-position and high-density 26-position connectors). That means it mates with any standard 15-pin D-sub connector — male or female — from the AMPLIMITE HD-20 family, as well as other manufacturers' size A D-subs.
