What This Backshell Covers
The TE Connectivity 5206478-3 is a hinged backshell from the AMPLIMITE HD-20 series, designed to fit standard 25-position D-subminiature connectors (Shell Size B) and also compatible with HD44-position connectors in the same shell size. It provides cable strain relief and mechanical protection for round cable assemblies, with the dual 45° and 180° cable exit options letting you route the cable in either direction without swapping parts. The black thermoplastic body includes the 4-40 mating screws and assembly hardware, so nothing extra is needed to secure it to the D-sub connector.
Cable Exit and Routing Flexibility
The backshell accepts round cable and offers two cable exit angles — 45° and 180° — in a single hinged assembly. This means you can orient the cable exit at either angle relative to the connector's mating axis, which is useful when the cable needs to turn a corner inside an enclosure or run straight out the back. The hinge lets you open the backshell, dress the cable, and close it around the termination without disassembling the connector.
Hardware Included
The 4-40 mating screws are built into the backshell, so you don't need to source them separately. The assembly hardware and strain relief are also included, covering the mechanical side of the cable exit.
