Hinged Backshell for 9-Position D-Sub, Shell Size E
The TE Connectivity 5207908-1 is a hinged backshell from the AMPLIMITE HD-20 series, designed to fit 9-position D-sub connectors with shell size E. It also accommodates HD-15 position connectors sharing the same shell size, giving it broader compatibility than a single shell-size part. The backshell accepts round cable and offers both 90° and 180° cable exit angles from the same part — you choose the orientation at assembly. That dual-exit flexibility means one SKU covers right-angle and straight cable routing, which simplifies stock for a harness shop that builds both configurations. Mating screws are included — 4-40 thread — so you don't need to order jack-screws separately. The assembly hardware also includes a strain relief clamp that cinches down on the cable jacket to take tension off the solder buckets or IDC contacts inside the D-sub.
This backshell mates with any standard 9-position D-sub connector (DE-9 / DB-9 pattern) that uses shell size E, including both male and female connectors from the AMPLIMITE HD-20 series and most industry-standard D-subs. The 4-40 threaded inserts in the backshell align with the standard D-sub mounting hole spacing, so it bolts directly onto the connector without adapters. The black polypropylene (PP) housing is unshielded, so this is a mechanical/cable-management backshell, not an EMI/RFI shield.
