Hinged Backshell for Standard D-Sub Connectors
The TE Connectivity 5207908-4 is a hinged plastic backshell from the AMPLIMITE HD-20 series, designed to fit standard 15-position D-sub connectors (shell size A) and also compatible with high-density 26-position D-subs that share the same shell size. It comes with the 4-40 mating screws pre-installed, so you don't need to order them separately. The hinged design allows the cable to exit either straight out the back (180°) or at a right angle (90°) — a practical choice when you're routing a round cable in a tight enclosure and need to choose the exit direction at assembly time.
What's Included and What It Does
The backshell includes assembly hardware and an integrated strain relief, which clamps the round cable jacket to prevent pull-out from the D-sub connector's solder cups or IDC terminals. The housing is molded from black polypropylene, a plastic that's common for internal equipment use where flame rating is handled by the enclosure. It is unshielded, so this is the right choice for signal-level applications where EMI shielding is not required.
