The right-angle through-hole termination and panel-mount bulkhead with front-side nut let you route the signal path parallel to the board while securing the connector to a chassis or enclosure wall. The centre contact is gold-plated phosphor bronze, good for the 500 mating cycles this connector is rated for.
At 4 GHz the connector is usable for most RF test and telecom applications up to the low microwave band; above that frequency the VSWR rises and the interface geometry becomes the limit. The 500 V rating is high for a BNC — typical video or instrumentation signals run well below that, but it gives headroom for applications like RF power monitoring or pulsed signals.
