The unshielded housing and Cat5 rating target 100 MHz Ethernet links where cost or EMI environment does not demand a shielded shell. Four jacks in a single row share the same through-hole footprint, so the PCB layout must allocate the full 4-port width plus the board guide feature that aligns the connector during solder.
The Cat5 rating means this jack is characterized for 100 MHz operation, sufficient for 10/100BASE-T and 1000BASE-T (Gigabit Ethernet) over the full 100-meter channel when paired with Cat5 or better cabling. There is no integrated magnetics or LED — the board must supply the PHY-side isolation and link-status indicators externally. The unshielded construction relies on the system enclosure or twisted-pair balance for EMI control rather than a grounded shell.
