The 5413779-3: It is a field-installable, crimp-termination connector for RG-174, RG-188, and RG-316 coaxial cables — the three most common small-diameter flexible coax types used in test equipment, instrumentation, and low-power RF interconnects.
Crimp Termination and Cable Fit
The cable group — RG-174, 188, 316 — all share a similar dielectric diameter and braid coverage, so the ferrule and center contact dimensions are matched to these cables. If you are terminating a different coax type, the crimp barrel may not compress correctly and the impedance match will shift. The shield termination is crimped over the braid through the ferrule; the center contact is crimped onto the signal conductor. The dielectric material is Polymethylpentene (PMP), a low-loss thermoplastic that holds the center contact concentric within the 50 Ohm geometry.
Bayonet Lock and Mating Cycles
The fastening type is a bayonet lock — the standard BNC quarter-turn coupling that gives a positive mechanical mate without threads.
