This is the 75 Ohm variant of the BNC interface — the standard for composite video, SDI, CCTV, and baseband video distribution, as opposed to the 50 Ohm version used in RF test equipment. The 75 Ohm impedance is the defining characteristic here: it matches the characteristic impedance of RG-59, RG-6, and Belden 1694A video coax cables, keeping return loss low across the signal path. Rated to 2 GHz maximum frequency and 500 V voltage rating. The press-fit termination means the centre contact and shield are pressed into plated through-holes on the PCB — no soldering required. This suits high-reliability backplane assemblies, solderless production lines, or field-replaceable modules where rework must be clean. The bayonet lock gives the familiar quarter-turn BNC mate/demate — positive engagement with an audible click, no tools needed.
Construction and Materials
The body is zinc with a nickel finish — cost-effective and corrosion-resistant for indoor equipment racks, broadcast studios, and control cabinets. Not rated for outdoor or salt-fog exposure; for those environments look at a stainless or marine-grade BNC. PTFE is the standard choice for precision BNC connectors — it doesn't absorb moisture and its dielectric constant stays flat with temperature.
