SMB Plug for RG-174 and RG-316 — 50 Ohm, 5 GHz
It is a field-installable crimp termination kit that includes the connector body, one gold-plated centre contact, and one ferrule — three pieces per order unit.
The 5 GHz upper frequency covers common ISM bands (2.4 GHz, 5 GHz Wi-Fi) and cellular bands up to mid-range 5G; above 5 GHz the insertion loss climbs beyond the 0.3 dB spec. The 500 mating cycles are typical for SMB — the snap-on coupling is quick but wears faster than a threaded SMA; plan for field-service or test-bench duty, not a permanent-install single-mate application. The 335 V rating is a peak voltage for the air gap at the interface; in practice the signal voltage on a 50 Ohm line is well below that, so the voltage spec is a safety margin rather than a design limit.
Crimp Termination — What You Get in the Kit
The 5414946-2 ships as a three-piece kit: the SMB plug body (zinc alloy, nickel finish), a gold-plated centre contact, and a crimp ferrule. The centre contact crimps onto the signal conductor of RG-174 or RG-316; the ferrule crimps over the braided shield and jacket. The shield termination is crimp-only — no solder or clamp — so the termination is repeatable and fast with the correct hex die.
