24-Position IDC Plug for Ribbon Cable Harnesses
The free-hanging (in-line) body includes a 4-40 threaded flange for panel-mount or jack-screw retention, common on CHAMP-style I/O connectors used in telecom, datacom, and industrial peripheral cabling.
IDC Termination and Cable Preparation
Termination is IDC — the ribbon cable is pressed onto the slot contacts, displacing the insulation to make connection without stripping or soldering. The 24-position count matches standard 26-conductor ribbon cable (leaving two conductors unused or trimmed), and the dual-row layout keeps the cable flat against the connector body. The 4-40 threaded flange allows a mating receptacle to be secured with hardware, preventing the IDC termination from taking strain during unmating.
Gold Plating and Contact Reliability
In a typical rack-mounted I/O application, this plating supports several hundred mate-unmate cycles before the gold wears through to the nickel underplate.
The 552283-1 is listed as Active and ROHS3 compliant.
