Card Edge Fit — What the 0.054"~0.070" Window Means
The TE Connectivity 5530843-2 is a 30-position dual-readout card edge connector from the Standard Edge II series. It mates with the gold fingers on a PCB edge, not a cable or header — the card thickness range of 0.054" to 0.070" (1.37mm to 1.78mm) is the single most important fit parameter. Most standard 1.6mm PCBs fall inside that window, but a board at 0.062" nominal will seat with proper wipe; a 0.093" backplane will not. The dual readout means the 30 positions are split 15 per side, so the BOM line must count the full 30 circuits, not half.
Gold Plating — 30.0µin Is Not a Flash Coating
The phosphor bronze base material gives good spring properties; the connector maintains contact force across the full card thickness range without taking a set.
Termination is through-hole solder — the connector has solder tails that go through plated holes on the motherboard. The black glass-filled polyester insulation holds up to wave solder and cleaning.
