CHAMP .085 IDC Plug for Ribbon Cable Harnesses
The TE Connectivity 553596-1 is a 14-position plug from the CHAMP.085 series, designed for mass-termination of 0.085-inch pitch ribbon cable via IDC contacts. The free-hanging (in-line) body includes integral 4-40 threaded flange features for jack-screw retention, giving the mated pair vibration resistance in industrial or telecom rack environments. The IDC termination eliminates individual wire stripping and crimping — the cable is pressed onto the insulation-displacement forks in one operation, which keeps assembly time low for medium-density harness runs.

The 14 circuits are laid out in two rows of 7, matching the standard 0.085-inch (2.16 mm) ribbon cable pitch. The IDC slot accepts the cable from the rear; the cover (sold separately) presses the conductors onto the bifurcated contacts. No crimp tool is needed for individual wires — a simple press or vice-style IDC tool seats the whole cable in one stroke.
