50-Position IDC Plug for Shielded Ribbon Cable
The TE Connectivity 554953-1 is a 50-position IDC plug from the CHAMP.085 series, terminated to 0.085-inch pitch ribbon cable. Free-hanging (in-line) mounting — no board footprint needed, mates with the matching CHAMP receptacle.
Bail Lock and Shielded Shell
The bail lock pulls the plug into the receptacle and holds it under vibration — no secondary hardware needed. The metal shield bleeds common-mode noise to chassis ground before it reaches the contacts. This matters when the cable runs near motors, drives, or switching supplies in an industrial cabinet.
IDC Termination, 30.0µin Gold
Insulation-displacement termination — strip the cable jacket, press the ribbon into the slot, the contact cuts through the insulation and grips the conductor. No crimp tool, no solder. Tin would gall and oxidize here; gold keeps the contact resistance stable over the life of the harness.
