CHAMP .085 Plug, 50-Position Right-Angle
The TE Connectivity 5552726-1 is a 50-position plug from the CHAMP.085 series, using center strip contacts arranged in two rows. It terminates via solder to a through-hole PCB and mounts at a right angle, with a tapped 4-40 threaded flange on each end for panel-mount screw retention. This is the plug half — mates with the matching CHAMP.085 receptacle that carries the corresponding center strip contact layout.
The gold thickness keeps the contact resistance stable through hundreds of mates; a tin-plated CHAMP part would wear through and oxidise well before that.
Right-angle orientation means the PCB sits parallel to the panel face — the connector body protrudes through the cutout and the board mounts perpendicular to the cable exit. The threaded 4-40 flange is tapped, not clearance-hole; you screw the plug directly to the receptacle or panel with 4-40 screws. This gives a rigid mechanical lock that takes the strain off the solder joints when the cable is tugged or the assembly vibrates. The panel cutout and hole pattern follow the standard CHAMP.085 footprint.
