CHAMP .085 Receptacle — 24-Position Shielded I/O Connector
The TE Connectivity 5554923-1 is a 24-position receptacle from the CHAMP.085 series, built with outer shroud contacts recessed inside a shielded shell. The shield wraps the contact area for EMI containment — common in I/O panels where the connector passes through a metal enclosure wall.
The panel flange accepts 6-32 jackscrews (not included) to mate the receptacle to a matching plug with threaded inserts, pulling the shell faces together for a solid ground bond. The 24 positions are laid out in two rows. The outer shroud contacts mean the mating face is a recessed cavity — the plug's pins enter the shroud before contacting the receptacle terminals, which protects the contacts from damage during blind mating.
Shielding and Retention
The shield is integral to the shell — it wraps the contact area and ties to the panel ground through the flange screws. The board lock adds mechanical retention independent of the solder joints, which matters when the cable is routed in a high-vibration cabinet or frequently cycled. The 6-32 flange inserts are standard for CHAMP.085 I/O connectors. The jackscrew hardware (typically a separate order) provides the mating force and vibration lock; without it the connector relies on the shell-to-shell friction alone.
