Shielded 6p6c Jack for Panel-Mount Ethernet and Telecom
The TE Connectivity 5555140-6 is a 6p6c modular jack — it accepts RJ11, RJ12, RJ14, and RJ25 plugs, covering the common wiring schemes for single- and dual-line telephone, 10BASE-T Ethernet, and serial console connections. Shielding with an EMI finger means the metal shell grounds to the panel cutout, bleeding off radiated noise before it reaches the signal pins — useful in industrial controllers, telecom switches, and point-of-sale terminals where the jack shares a backplane with switching power supplies.
Board Locks, Panel Stops, and Plating Grade
Two board-lock posts anchor the jack to the PCB during wave solder and resist the shear force from repeated plug insertions — without them the solder joints fatigue and the shield lifts off the ground plane. The panel stops set the depth of the jack face relative to the panel cutout, so the latch tines on the plug catch consistently. The housing is polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) and polyester, rated UL 94 V-0 for equipment inside an enclosure.
Temperature Range and Sourcing
The Cat3 rating means it is specified for voice-frequency signals — not Gigabit Ethernet. Active lifecycle status, RoHS compliant.
