8P8C Right-Angle Jack — Cat3, Unshielded, Board Lock
It's the unshielded, Cat3-rated member of the 5555162 base series, built for basic 10BASE-T and voice applications where the signal path stays below 16 MHz. Board locks and panel stops anchor the jack against the PCB during wave soldering and absorb the shear force when a cable gets yanked. No LED indicators are present, and the jack is unshielded — so it relies on the system's own EMI containment rather than a metal shell.
Cat3 certification limits this jack to 16 MHz frequency response — fine for 10BASE-T Ethernet and analog phone lines, but not for 100BASE-TX (Cat5) or gigabit (Cat5e/6). The unshielded construction means no internal foil or braid to contain radiated noise, so the twisted-pair cable itself must provide the common-mode rejection. If the installation runs near power lines or motors, a shielded jack (Cat5e or better) would be the safer call.
