8P8C RJ45 Jack, Right-Angle, Unshielded
The TE Connectivity 5555164-4 is an 8-position 8-contact (8p8c) modular jack, commonly wired as an RJ45 Ethernet port. It terminates into the PCB through a right-angle, through-hole solder mount with the tab facing down — a layout that keeps the cable exit low and parallel to the board, useful in rack-mount equipment where vertical clearance above the port is tight. The jack is unshielded and carries a Cat3 rating, meaning it is specified for voice-frequency signals and 10BASE-T Ethernet at up to 16 MHz. For 100BASE-TX or 1000BASE-T applications, a Cat5e or higher rated jack would be required.
The Cat3 performance level limits this jack to applications where the channel bandwidth does not exceed 16 MHz. In practice, that covers analog telephone lines, RS-232 over RJ45, and 10BASE-T Ethernet.
