10P10C (RJ50) Modular Jack – Right-Angle Through-Hole
The TE Connectivity 5558065-1 is a 10-position 10-contact (10P10C) modular jack, commonly referred to as an RJ50 connector. It terminates via through-hole solder tails in a right-angle orientation, placing the jack parallel to the PCB for edge-mounted or low-profile panel applications. The unshielded housing is moulded from polyamide (nylon) with an integral board guide that aligns the connector during wave-solder assembly. Rated Category 3, this jack supports voice and 10BASE-T Ethernet but is not rated for higher-speed data protocols that require Cat5e or better cabling.
This jack mates with any standard 10P10C (RJ50) plug terminated to round or flat cable. It is not compatible with 8P8C (RJ45) plugs — the wider keyway and extra contact positions prevent insertion. For applications that require only 8 circuits, consider the sibling 5557785-1 (8P8C RJ45) which shares the same right-angle through-hole footprint and gold plating. The 5558066-1 adds a keying feature for polarization; the 5558067-1 swaps the nylon housing for a PCT version with a shielded shell, useful when EMI is a concern.
