The TE Connectivity 5558067-1 is a 10-position, 10-conductor (10p10c) modular jack wired to the RJ50 pinout — the wider cousin of the familiar RJ45. It terminates a 10-wire cable in a single shielded housing, used where a standard 8P8C Ethernet jack leaves conductors short: serial console cables, multi-drop RS-485, or proprietary 10-wire data links in telecom and industrial equipment. The shielded shell contains radiated emissions from the cable pair, which matters when the jack is mounted in an ungrounded plastic enclosure or near sensitive analog stages. The housing is molded from PCT (polycyclohexylenedimethylene terephthalate), a high-temperature thermoplastic that survives wave-solder without distortion.
Shielded vs Unshielded — Which Sibling Fits Your Build
The 5558067-1 is the shielded, board-guide version of the 10p10c RJ50 jack. Its closest sibling, the 5558065-1, is identical in pinout, orientation, and gold plating but omits the shield — the housing is unshielded nylon instead of PCT. If your assembly already passes radiated emissions testing or sits inside a grounded metal chassis, the unshielded 5558065-1 saves a few cents per unit. For a standalone device or an ungrounded plastic enclosure, the 5558067-1's shield is the right call. A second sibling, the 5558070-1, adds an EMI finger to the shield for a lower-impedance ground bond to the panel cutout. For most builds the 5558067-1's standard shield is sufficient; the EMI-finger variant is a niche upgrade for high-noise environments.
The jack terminates via through-hole solder posts — the pins pass through the PCB and are wave-soldered on the back side. The board guide aligns the jack during placement so the pins drop cleanly into their plated holes without skewing. The tab faces down, which orients the latch release toward the PCB — standard for a right-angle jack where the cable exits the front panel.
