What This 6P2C RJ11 Jack Is For
The TE Connectivity 5569984-2 is a vertical through-hole modular jack, wired 6P2C — six positions with two conductors populated, the standard RJ11 pinout for single-line telephone and basic voice applications.
Board Lock Keeps It Seated
The board lock feature is a pair of through-hole retention posts that anchor the jack to the PCB during wave soldering and resist the plug insertion/withdrawal forces. The vertical orientation places the jack perpendicular to the board, so the plug inserts straight down; this is the common layout for a PCB-edge phone jack or a stacked multi-port panel.
Unshielded and Cat3 — Know the Limits
This jack is unshielded, so there is no metal shell or ground plane to bleed EMI — it relies on the twisted-pair cable and the equipment enclosure for noise immunity. The Cat3 rating defines the transmission performance: tested to TIA/EIA-568-C.3 for 16 MHz operation, which is adequate for voice and 10BASE-T but not for 100 Mbps or gigabit Ethernet. If the application needs higher data rates or shielded signal integrity, look at a Cat5e or Cat6 jack in the same footprint.
It ships in tray packaging.
