Shell, Flange, and Mounting
The shell size is 1 (DE, E) — the standard DE-9 footprint that mates with any DE-9 plug. The flange feature is housing/shell (unthreaded), meaning there are no threaded inserts; panel mounting uses the shell's own holes with standard 4-40 screws or jackscrews. The backset spacing of 0.318" (8.08mm) sets the distance from the PCB edge to the mating face — important for enclosure clearance when the connector is mounted at the board edge.
Contact Finish and Material
Flash gold provides corrosion resistance and adequate performance for occasional mating cycles — typical for internal equipment connections that are mated once or infrequently. For applications requiring frequent disconnect/reconnect, a thicker gold plating would be preferred to prevent contact wear and fretting.
