What This Backshell Covers
The TE Connectivity AMPLIMITE 5745175-2 is a two-piece metal backshell for D-subminiature connectors, designed to fit standard 50-position D-sub shells (size D) and also compatible with high-density 78-position connectors in the same shell size. It provides 180° cable exit for round cable assemblies, with full shielding to control EMI emissions at the connector-to-cable transition. The housing is cast zinc alloy with a nickel-over-copper plating, giving it a silver appearance (listed as Silver) and a corrosion-resistant surface that holds up in industrial and telecom environments. What's in the Box — Hardware Included
The backshell comes with Mating Screws 4-40 and Assembly Hardware, plus a Strain Relief. That means you don't need to order separate jack screws or a cable clamp — the 4-40 screws are the standard thread for D-sub connectors and lock the backshell to the connector body. The strain relief secures the round cable jacket so pull on the cable doesn't transfer to the solder or crimp terminations inside.
