25-Position Right-Angle D-Sub with Ground Strap
The TE Connectivity 5745783-5 is a 25-position D-Sub receptacle from the AMPLIMITE HD-20 series, configured for right-angle through-hole mounting. This is the standard DB-25 shell size (3/B layout) used for RS-232, parallel, and general-purpose I/O on industrial and test equipment backplanes. The 6 A per-contact rating covers both signal and moderate power pins in the same shell, so the limiting factor for current is the pin density at the board edge, not the contact itself.
The through-hole solder tails provide mechanical strength against cable strain. On the mating side, the female screwlock (4-40) accepts standard D-sub male screwlocks for positive retention — the connector won't vibrate loose in a rack-mounted assembly. An integrated ground strap on the shell gives a low-impedance path from the shield to the PCB ground plane, which helps contain radiated emissions in an enclosure.
