It carries 6A per contact at 125V, with gold-plated phosphor bronze contacts (30.0µin) and a steel shell with tin plating. The flange includes female screwlocks (4-40) on the mating side, so the mating hardware is already in place for panel-mount or cable-to-board connections. Typical use is as a board-edge I/O port for serial, parallel, or industrial signal interfaces where a standard-density DE-9 (E shell) layout is called for.
The backset spacing of 0.590" (14.99mm) sets the distance from the board edge to the mounting flange — important for enclosure cutout alignment. The flange ships with female screwlocks (4-40), so no separate hardware is needed for panel mounting or mating with a male D-sub with male screwlocks. The steel shell with tin plating provides EMI shielding and mates with the ground indents on the mating plug.
