What This Backshell Covers
The TE Connectivity AMPLIMITE 5747099-5 is a two-piece backshell designed for D-subminiature connectors. It accommodates 15-position connectors and is also compatible with high-density 26-position D-subs sharing the same shell size A footprint. The 180° cable exit routes the cable straight out the back of the connector, which keeps the assembly profile low for panel-mount applications where right-angle exits would interfere with adjacent components.
Shielding and Hardware Included
This backshell is shielded — the nickel over copper plating on the thermoplastic shell provides a continuous ground path when mated with a compatible D-sub connector that has grounding indents. The shielding is the key differentiator from a basic plastic backshell: it bleeds EMI before it reaches the signal pins, which matters for industrial control cabinets or test equipment where radiated emissions limits apply.
