37-Position Right-Angle D-Sub Plug with Board Lock and Grounding
The TE Connectivity AMPLIMITE HD-20 5747835-4 is a 37-position D-sub plug with male pins, arranged in two rows on the standard DC (C) shell size. It terminates via through-hole solder tails and exits the board at a right angle, with a backset spacing of 0.590" (14.99 mm) that sets the board-edge clearance for the mating receptacle. This is the full-size 37-position member of the HD-20 series, built for signal interconnect in equipment that needs a shielded, threaded-lock D-sub interface.
Board Lock, Ground Strap, and 4-40 Threaded Insert
This plug carries a board lock, a ground strap, and grounding indents on the shell. The flange uses a standard 4-40 threaded insert (housing/shell side) for jack-screw mating with the receptacle — the same thread as every other standard-density D-sub, so hoods and backshells with 4-40 screws fit directly.
Backset Spacing: 0.590" vs the 0.318" Sibling
The 5747835-4 uses a 0.590" (14.99 mm) backset spacing — the distance from the PCB mounting face to the front of the shell. The 0.590" version pushes the connector further off the board edge, which clears taller components on the mating receptacle side or fits a thicker panel. The 0.318" version tucks tighter to the board for a lower profile. Both are active; the choice is board-edge clearance, not function. Another sibling, the 5747843-2, also uses the 0.318" backset but drops the ground strap and substitutes unthreaded mounting holes for the 4-40 insert. If the assembly requires a threaded jack-screw anchor and a ground strap, the 5747835-4 is the correct pick over 5747843-2.
