Board Lock and Ground Strap — Why They're Here
The 5747846-2: This receptacle includes a board lock and a ground strap — two features that separate it from a plain D-sub. The board lock anchors the connector to the PCB during soldering and adds shear resistance when the cable is yanked. The ground strap bleeds shield current from the mating shell before it reaches the signal pins, which is the difference between a clean ground reference and a ground loop hum on a sensitive input line.
Mounting and Termination Details
Through-hole right-angle mounting, solder termination. The flange has unthreaded holes — you supply your own hardware or use the mating jack-screw set from the plug side.
