What This Backshell Covers
The TE Connectivity AMPLIMITE 5748678-2 is a two-piece plastic backshell designed for 15-position and high-density 26-position D-sub connectors using shell size A. It provides strain relief and cable management for round cable assemblies with a straight 180° cable exit. The black ABS housing includes assembly hardware and grommets, plus the mating screws (4-40) that save a separate hardware order.
Fit Check — Which D-Sub It Works With
This backshell fits standard 15-position D-sub connectors and also accepts high-density 26-position connectors that share shell size A. The two-piece design wraps around the connector body and the 4-40 mating screws thread into the D-sub's jack-screw inserts, securing the assembly without extra hardware. The 180° cable exit keeps the cable run straight out the back — useful for panel-mount layouts where a right-angle exit would interfere with the enclosure wall.
Material and Build
Moulded from ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene), a general-purpose thermoplastic that balances impact resistance with dimensional stability. The housing is unshielded — this is a mechanical backshell, not an EMI/RFI shield. Colour is black. Supplied in bulk packaging.
