100-Position Shielded D-Sub for Dense Signal Harnesses
The 5749069-9: The shell is steel with nickel plating, and the assembly includes a shielded backshell and integral latchblocks with 2-56 threaded inserts for panel-mount or cable-hood retention.
Pitch and Density — the 0.050-Inch Footprint
The 0.050-inch pitch between contacts, with 0.100-inch row spacing, gives this connector 100 positions in a shell roughly the length of a standard 50-position D-sub. That density is the main reason to pick this series over a standard D-sub — you get twice the circuit count in the same panel cutout. The trade-off is the 1 A per-contact limit, which is fine for logic-level signals but not for power or high-current I/O.
Shielding and Shell Construction
The steel shell with nickel plating, combined with the shielded backshell feature, provides a continuous EMI barrier around the contact array. The flange includes 2-56 threaded inserts and latchblocks for secure panel mounting or cable-hood attachment — the latchblocks prevent the mating plug from backing out under vibration. For a high-density signal connector in a noisy electrical environment, the shielding is not optional; this part has it built in.
