50-Position Shielded Backshell for AMPLIMITE .050 III D-Subs
The TE Connectivity 5749193-2 is a two-piece metal backshell from the AMPLIMITE.050 III series, designed to fit 50-position and high-density 78-position D-sub connectors with a D shell size. It provides 360° shielding via its zinc metal construction with nickel over copper plating, clamping down on round cable at a 180° straight exit. The seven-piece kit includes the top and bottom shell halves, assembly hardware, and a strain relief — everything needed to terminate a cable shield and secure the connector in one BOM line.
Shielding and Mechanical Fit
The spring lock feature holds the shell halves together during assembly, and the included hardware completes the clamp around the cable. For a shielded D-sub assembly, this backshell mates with standard 50-position AMPLIMITE.050 III connectors — the metal-to-metal contact between the backshell and the connector shell bleeds EMI to ground before it reaches the signal pins. The 180° cable exit keeps the cable running straight out the back of the connector, which suits panel-mount or enclosure feed-through layouts where a right-angle exit would interfere with adjacent ports.
