8-Position Shielded Mini DIN — Through-Hole Right-Angle Mount
This is the female socket side of the Mini DIN interface, keyed to prevent mis-mating with other DIN shell sizes.
The shielded shell is the key differentiator from a standard unshielded Mini DIN — it provides a continuous ground plane around the signal contacts, reducing radiated emissions and susceptibility in analog audio/video circuits. The push-pull fastening gives a positive tactile lock without requiring threaded hardware, which suits panel-mount applications where the connector is frequently mated and unmated.
Through-hole solder termination provides a mechanically robust joint compared to surface-mount, important for a right-angle connector that sees cable strain.
