Hinged Backshell for Standard D-Sub Cable Assemblies
The TE Connectivity 5749914-1 is a hinged backshell from the AMPLIMITE Quik-Snap series, designed to terminate and protect the cable end of a standard 9-position D-Sub connector. It accepts round cable and provides two cable exit options — 120° and 180° — giving the harness builder flexibility in routing the cable away from the connector along the panel or enclosure wall. The black polypropylene (PP) housing is lightweight and resists common industrial fluids and solvents, making it a practical choice for control cabinets, instrumentation, and serial communication links where a plastic, unshielded backshell is sufficient.
Cable Exit and Routing Flexibility
The dual cable exit orientation is the primary selection feature of this backshell. The 120° exit angles the cable away from the connector axis at an oblique angle, useful when the cable must clear adjacent connectors or components on a crowded panel. The 180° straight exit keeps the cable aligned with the connector axis for a direct run. Both exits are built into the same hinged body — the assembler chooses the orientation during installation by snapping the cover closed over the cable in the desired position. This eliminates the need to stock separate 120° and 180° backshell variants.
Compatibility and Included Hardware
This backshell is compatible with standard D-Sub connectors having shell size E, which covers the 9-position standard-density layout.
