50-Position Press-Fit D-Sub for Dense Signal Interconnects
The TE Connectivity 5786155-5 is a 50-position, 2-row D-sub receptacle from the AMPLIMITE.050 III series, designed for high-density signal routing in backplane and I/O applications. The 0.050-inch pitch and 0.100-inch row spacing pack 50 signal contacts into a compact shell, saving board real estate compared to standard-density D-subs. Press-fit termination eliminates soldering, allowing solderless assembly and field rework without thermal damage to the board or connector.
Shielding, Latching, and Environmental Ratings
The steel shell with nickel plating provides EMI shielding, critical for maintaining signal integrity in electrically noisy environments like industrial control cabinets or telecom racks. The flange features 2-56 threaded inserts and latchblocks for secure panel mounting and positive mating retention — the latchblocks lock the mating plug in place, preventing disconnection under vibration.
Contact System and Electrical Ratings
Each of the 50 positions uses a phosphor bronze contact with gold plating, rated for 1A per contact at 30V. The 1A rating is typical for high-density D-subs; derate current above 105°C per the manufacturer's derating curve if operating near the upper temperature limit.
This receptacle mates with a standard plug (male D-sub) with the same 50-position, 2-row layout. The press-fit termination requires a plated through-hole board with the correct hole diameter and pad size. The flange's 2-56 threaded inserts accept jackscrews on the mating plug for additional retention.
