Board Lock and Right-Angle Orientation for Strain Relief
The board lock feature — two metal tabs that solder into plated through-holes — is the primary mechanical retention for this right-angle receptacle. Without it, the cantilevered weight of a mated cable plug and the lever action of insertion/withdrawal cycles would fatigue the signal-pin solder joints over time. The housing/shell flange with 4-40 threaded inserts accepts the standard D-Sub locking hardware (jackscrews or slide locks) to secure the mating plug against vibration.
