Right-Angle D-Sub Receptacle for Board-Edge I/O
This is the DE-9 shell size (layout 1, DE, E) — the standard footprint for RS-232 serial ports, industrial controller I/O, and instrumentation panels. The black polyamide housing carries two rows of phosphor bronze contacts with 30.0 µ" gold plating, rated 6 A per circuit at 125 V.
Position Count and Shell Size vs. Siblings
The 9-position DE-9 shell (layout 1, DE, E) is the smallest standard D-sub shell size. The sibling 5788798-1 carries 15 positions on the larger DA (A) shell at the same 6 A rating, 30 µ" gold, and right-angle through-hole mounting — the only functional difference is the position count and the corresponding board footprint. For a 9-circuit BOM line, the 5788797-1 is the correct shell; the 15-position version would leave five unpopulated holes on the board.
