What This Card Edge Housing Is
The TE Connectivity 583680-1 is a 30-position card edge housing from the Amp-Leaf series. It accepts a dual-edge PCB between 0.055" and 0.070" (1.40mm to 1.78mm) thick, with a 0.156" (3.96mm) pitch that matches standard edge-card footprints. The housing mounts to a panel via the top-mount flange — an unthreaded 0.128" (3.25mm) diameter opening — and comes in a black thermoplastic body.
Mounting and Fit
Panel-mount design with a flange at the top — the unthreaded hole accepts a screw or rivet for securing the housing to a chassis or enclosure wall. The card slot is sized for standard dual-edge PCBs; the 0.055" to 0.070" thickness range covers most common board stock. The 0.156" pitch is the classic edge-card spacing, so the housing aligns with the corresponding edge-finger pattern on the PCB.
The housing itself is a shell — you supply the crimp contacts that snap into each of the 30 cavities. TE's Amp-Leaf terminal family includes several contact styles for different wire sizes and current levels; check the 583680 base product number for the recommended contact part numbers. The black housing carries no current; the contact rating depends entirely on the terminal you install.
