MICTOR 40-Position Plug at 0.80mm Pitch
The TE Connectivity 6-1658014-1 is a 40-position plug from the MICTOR series, using outer shroud contacts on a 0.031" (0.80mm) pitch in two rows. This is the tightest pitch in the MICTOR family — the board footprint is dense, so the mating receptacle must match the same 0.80mm spacing. The plug is surface-mount terminated and mates to a complementary MICTOR receptacle at a stacking height of 8mm, which sets the board-to-board gap in a mezzanine stack. Gold plating at 10.0µin (0.25µm) on the contacts handles repeated mating cycles typical of high-speed differential-pair interconnects in test equipment, server backplanes, and telecom line cards. The integrated ground bus plane (listed as a feature) reduces loop inductance — a real benefit for signal integrity at data rates where the return path through individual pins would introduce crosstalk. This is a production-floor detail — without it, the 0.80mm pitch pins can bend on misaligned insertion.
The mated stacking height is a fixed 8mm — no adjustment. If your board-to-board gap needs to be tighter or taller, this is not the plug for that stack.
